Servicing & maintenance

Before you call

Tell us the make, model, mileage and date of your last service.

Regular servicing based on your model, mileage and maintenance history. Contact us to discuss the work your vehicle needs.

When to speak with us

Scheduled maintenance is approaching, a service reminder appears, or you do not know a used car’s maintenance history.

What matters in an inspection

  • The manufacturer’s schedule, based on both time and mileage.
  • Previous work, to distinguish completed maintenance from outstanding items.
  • The consumables and checks specified for your particular model.
Does a low-mileage car still need servicing?

Maintenance also has time limits. Your car’s service handbook sets the interval for each task. Bring it with you, even if you have not reached the mileage limit.

Diagnostics

Before you call

Note the dashboard warning and the conditions in which it appeared.

Diagnostic checks to investigate the cause of a fault. Describe the warning or symptom and when it appears.

When to speak with us

An engine warning light, uneven idle, loss of performance or an intermittent fault.

What matters in an inspection

  • Stored fault codes and the conditions in which they appeared.
  • Operating readings alongside the symptoms you describe.
  • Further checks needed to identify the underlying cause.
Does a fault code tell you which part to replace?

Not on its own. It indicates where investigation is needed. Diagnosis combines the data with system checks before a repair is proposed; simply clearing a warning does not resolve its cause.

Timing belts & chains

Before you call

Bring your service handbook and any records of timing-system replacement.

Inspection and replacement of timing belts and chains according to the manufacturer’s specifications and the needs of each engine. Proper timing-system maintenance supports reliable vehicle operation.

When to speak with us

When the specified replacement interval is approaching, unusual engine noises occur or the vehicle’s maintenance history is unknown.

What matters in an inspection

  • Inspection of the timing system.
  • Assessment of component condition.
  • Following the manufacturer’s guidance.
  • Replacement of the required components where necessary.
When should the timing system be inspected?

The manufacturer’s schedule and the history of the particular engine determine the inspection and work required. Mention any noises and previous replacements when you contact us.

Brakes

Before you call

Describe any noise or change you notice when braking.

Brake inspection and maintenance, with component replacement where needed. Contact the workshop if the pedal feels different or you notice an unusual noise.

When to speak with us

Noise when braking, vibration or a change in pedal feel need assessment.

What matters in an inspection

  • The condition of pads and discs, rather than mileage alone.
  • Brake system operation and any signs of a leak.
  • The nature of the symptom and when you hear or feel it.
Does a noise always mean new brake pads?

The cause needs inspection before deciding on a repair. If braking performance has reduced or the pedal sinks unusually, stop safely and request roadside assistance rather than driving to the workshop.

Air conditioning

Before you call

Tell us whether the issue concerns cooling, airflow or a smell.

Air conditioning inspection and servicing. If cooling is weaker or you notice an unusual smell, speak with us about an appropriate check.

When to speak with us

Air that is not cool enough, weak airflow from the vents or an unpleasant smell.

What matters in an inspection

  • Whether the issue affects cooling, airflow or both.
  • Whether refrigerant loss or another malfunction needs investigation.
  • The refrigerant type used by the vehicle before discussing the work.
Does weak cooling simply mean it needs a regas?

Weak cooling alone is not enough to choose a repair. If there is a leak, topping up refrigerant does not fix its cause. Tell us whether performance declined gradually or suddenly.

Electrical repairs

Before you call

Tell us which system is affected and whether the fault is constant or intermittent.

Checks for electrical faults in your vehicle. A clear description helps us plan the inspection, particularly when a problem is intermittent.

When to speak with us

Starting difficulties, dim lights or electrical functions that stop working intermittently.

What matters in an inspection

  • The power supply and connections of the affected system.
  • The battery and charging system where the symptoms require it.
  • Fault conditions: a cold or warm engine, damp weather or time parked.
It won’t start. Is it definitely the battery?

Not necessarily. Starting also depends on the starter, connections and charging. Tell us whether you hear a noise, the lights dim, or the engine turns normally, to help direct the inspection.

Suspension

Before you call

Describe when the noise occurs or when the handling feels different.

Suspension inspection and repair, with component replacement where needed. Speak with us if you notice noises or a change in the way the car drives.

When to speak with us

Knocks over uneven surfaces, excessive bouncing after a pothole or a change in stability.

What matters in an inspection

  • Shock absorber condition and any visible leakage.
  • Mountings and suspension components associated with the noise.
  • When the symptom occurs: over bumps, when cornering or braking.
Does a knock mean the shock absorbers need replacing?

Similar noises can come from different components or mountings. The system needs inspection before selecting replacement parts. Mention which side the noise comes from and whether it changes when the car is loaded.

Before you call

Tell us where the damage is and how it happened so we can arrange an assessment.

Bodywork to repair wear and damage to the vehicle’s body, with attention to correct repair and a carefully finished appearance.

When to speak with us

When the car has dents, impact damage or other body damage that needs assessment and repair.

What matters in an inspection

  • Assessment of the extent of the damage.
  • Identification of the work required.
  • Selection of an appropriate repair method.
  • Checking the final fit and appearance.
Can the work be assessed over the phone?

We can discuss the damage and arrange an assessment of your car. The extent of the repair and the work required are determined after inspection.
